What is an RSS Feed?
RSS (often called Really Simple Syndication) uses a family of standardized web feed formats to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, video, etc.
There are many resources on the web that can help you create an RSS Feed so once you have it created you can implement it into your layout using the instructions below.
Adding an RSS Feed
Start by dragging an "RSS block" over to your page layout, it can be placed wherever you prefer.
When you click on the RSS object you will get the RSS options in the upper right-hand panel. Here you will now see an empty "Location" field. This is where you will add the URL of your hosted RSS Feed that you want to deliver to the page.
After you have added the URL, click on "Load Feed".
You should now see a listing of all the elements that the RSS Feed is built up by if you've done it properly. Choose the ones you want to show in the app.
Typically it would be something like "Title", "Description", "Image" and "Link". For image and link, do not forget to change the "Type" to Image and Link rather than Text.
You can design and place each element anyway you want, just move them around by dragging them. You can also change the font, font size and font color etc. Simply do that by selecting the text you want to change it by using the options in the right side panel.
Once you are happy with the look of the RSS cell you just created, all of the other cells from the RSS Feed will automatically have the same design. You can choose to have alternating background colors for each of the cells or place a separator line between each respective cell. You can also include links to other pages in your app. This can all be done from the options in the right-hand column properties.
NOTE: The RSS Feed will not display within the Semble application on your desktop so you'll need to check the design by pushing it to your Semble Reviewer App on your iOS or Android device.
